James Forgione……Late Blooming Entrepreneur and Author

I began my career in foodservice fresh out of Boston College in 1973. I had worked my way through college as a cook and eventually Sous Chef. You might say I was a foodie long before someone coined the phrase. In a span of fifteen years I worked for the same team as we were sold twice until we evolved into Kraft S.S. Pierce Company. I left the company to pursue a new position as an Account Executive at Rykoff/Sexton Foods. Two years later I was offered and accepted a partnership role as general manager of a thirty-five year old dairy and cheese company, Capeway Farms. In two years we grew the business from $4.5 million to over $20 million. I ran the day to day operations and also assisted in purchasing, insurance and Worker’s Comp issues, broker relations, planning and directing sales meetings, and conducting weekly staff meetings.

Capeway Farms was sold to Sysco in 1991 and I and three partners were offered sales positions. I was promoted to District sales manager in 1993 and in a few years built a team that boasted top achievement status. I was awarded Pacesetter status, which meant that my team had attained growth of 20% in sales and gross profit two years consecutively.

I left Sysco to join Agar Foods in 2006 as their first Regional Sales Manager. I was fortunate to be part of a team that was created and supported by the Bressler family and was an integral part of incredible growth in sales and our sales team. Agar was purchased by Reinhart Foodservice in 2012 and in 2014 my sales team of eleven TSMs earned the distinction of producing the highest GP from landed cost in the entire corporation.

Interests, Skills and Recognition

· Expertise in training, business development and menu/profit analysis.
· Involved with my church as kitchen manager. Helped raise over 40k with events such as our Annual Gourmet Dinner.
· Active in my community as a coach and Youth minister for Saint Margaret’s parish.
· Serv safe and HACCP trained.
· Actively mentored Sales Consultants at Agar/Reinhart to be eligible for career advancement.

I bring passion, integrity, and leadership as a member of the foodservice community and will continue my efforts on your behalf through my newly founded company Rfsconsultants Group. My greatest joy is sharing precious time with my children and six grandchildren.
